Paint correction is the systematic machine polishing of a vehicle's painted surfaces to permanently remove defects: swirl marks from improper washing, buffer trails from past work, oxidation from sun exposure, water spots, and etched bird-dropping marks. Unlike a glaze or wax that temporarily fills scratches, correction removes them — the gloss you see is the paint itself.
This is the foundation of every serious protection package at Revival Autoworks. There is no point sealing swirl marks under a ceramic coating or PPF; locking in a defective finish means living with it. Correction first, protection second.
Every correction job starts with a measured inspection under dedicated lighting, test spots on each panel type, and an honest conversation about what your paint needs — and what it doesn't. Some vehicles need a single polishing stage; neglected finishes may need multiple stages to reach their potential.
Benefits & Practical Applications
Removes swirls & wash marks
The fine circular scratches that dull your paint in sunlight are polished out, not covered up.
Restores clarity & gloss
Corrected paint reflects light cleanly again — depth and gloss return dramatically.
The right base for protection
Ceramic coatings and PPF look and perform their best over a properly corrected finish.
Removes oxidation
Sun-faded, chalky paint from outdoor New England storage can often be brought back.
Honest, measured results
We test-polish each panel and tell you exactly what can be corrected and what is beyond safe polishing depth.
How the Process Works
Inspection under task lighting
We map every defect type and check paint thickness with a gauge before touching a machine to the car.
Test spots
Each panel type gets a test section to find the pad, polish, and process that corrects it safely.
Compounding stage
Deeper defects are cut down with heavier compounds where the paint thickness allows.
Refinement stage
Finishing polishes and soft pads refine the finish to high gloss with minimal haze.
Panel wipe-down
Oils and polishing residue are stripped so the true finish — and any coating applied after — sits on bare paint.
Walkthrough & protection plan
We review the results under lighting with you and recommend the protection that fits how you use the car.
Packages & Options
One-step and multi-step correction
We recommend the correction level based on paint condition and your goals — from a single enhancement polish to full multi-stage correction. Pricing scales with vehicle size and condition; your quote includes the exact plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between paint correction and detailing?
Detailing cleans and protects the vehicle as it is. Correction uses machine polishing to physically remove paint defects so the finish genuinely improves. A detail makes a clean car; a correction makes a better finish.
Will paint correction remove every scratch?
It removes scratches within the clear coat's safe polishing depth. Scratches that catch a fingernail or have gone through the clear often can't be fully polished out — we identify those honestly during inspection.
Is paint correction safe for my paint?
Yes, when done with measured paint thickness checks, proper pads and polishes, and controlled machine work. We test each panel first and work conservatively so clear coat is preserved.
Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating or PPF?
For coatings, correction is strongly recommended — the coating seals whatever finish sits beneath it. For PPF, at minimum the paint should be clean and defect-free where the film will show them.
How long does paint correction take?
A one-step enhancement may take a day; multi-stage correction on a full vehicle spans several days. We confirm the schedule with your quote.
